Preparing for your appointment

To ensure a smooth and accurate scan, some procedures require specific preparation. Please read our guide below before your arrival.

X-RAY
  • For females of childbearing age : Take note of your last menstrual period.
  • General : Remove accessories/jewelry.
  • For Chest/Abdomen X-Ray : Remove metal accessories (necklaces, underwire bras, belts, etc.).
  • Pregnancy Warning : Inform your doctor if you are pregnant before any X-ray procedure.
  • Abdomen & Pelvis : Fast for at least 6 hours before the scan (no food or sweet drinks, only plain water).
  • Pelvic & Obstetric (Pregnancy) Ultrasound : Drink 1 liter of water an hour before the scan and do not urinate until after the procedure.
  • Renal (Kidney) Ultrasound : Fast for at least 6 hours before the scan (no food or sweet drinks, only plain water). If KUB (bladder/prostate) is indicated, follow the pelvic preparation instructions—a full bladder is required.
  • Doppler Ultrasound : No fasting required unless specified by the doctor.
  • Neck/Thyroid Ultrasound : No fasting required unless specified by the doctor. Wear a low-neckline top and remove any neck jewelry.
  • Metal-Free : Remove all metal objects (jewelry, piercings, watches, etc.).
  • Pacemakers & Implants : Inform the radiographer if you have any metallic implants, pacemakers, or artificial joints.
  • Claustrophobic Patients : Inform the doctor beforehand if you have claustrophobia, as sedation options may be available.
  • Pregnancy Warning : MRI is generally safe for pregnant women but should be avoided in the first trimester unless absolutely necessary.

    • Renal Profile : A blood test may be required to check your renal profile. Your renal profile results MUST BE within the normal range and taken within the past three months.
  • Non-Contrast CT : No fasting required.
  • No Deodorant, Powder, or Lotion : Avoid applying deodorant, talcum powder, or lotion on the chest and underarms before the scan.
  • Schedule Wisely : Best done one week after menstruation to reduce breast tenderness.
  • Wear a Two-Piece Outfit : This makes it easier to undress only the top part.
  • Pregnancy Warning : Mammograms are not recommended during pregnancy.
  • Avoid Calcium Supplements : Stop taking calcium supplements at least 24 hours before the scan.
  • Wear Comfortable Clothing : Avoid clothes with zippers, metal buttons, or belts.
